A bunch of firsts today--smiles AND potty training?

Well, first of all, Griffin smiled at David today and I actually got some pictures! He also smiled at his cousin Maddie (no smiles for Mommy yet).

I got some of him smiling bigger at Daddy, but I love how you can see the smile in his eyes!

AND. . .

I think Xander want to potty train. He didn't want to put his diaper on, so we put underwear on him. And get this, it's been 2 hours and no accidents and he actually went pee in the potty! WAHOOO! Maybe he's just ready now--send some good thoughts. Okay, he just went again! HURRAY!

It just struck me today. . .

So far this morning, the older two boys have broken a Christmas tree ornament, sucked on the crocheted snowflake ornaments, jumped off the couch and onto one of my wrapped birthday presnts, and got ahold of Griffin's gas drops and drank the rest of them. I was thinking to myself, "Gee, self, I can't wait until these kids get older and stop ruining my things." Then it hits me, IT DOESN'T STOP. My brother, who is 18, just ruined my dad's old car they were letting him drive (several fender benders, driving like a maniac, etc). It's so bad, they got sick of repairing it and just gave him the dang thing. So, it never ends, does it?

And yes, our tree is up already. David was super-excited to get it up, so yesterday we went and bought some ornaments and lights and put it all up. Xander was awake to help us, but Maxton was in bed. Here's a photo of Xander helping.

And one of Griffin. He's getting chubby!

And one more, this time Max, just because this photo makes me laugh.

And I still haven't had breakfast. . .

Ug, I just had the worst hour and a half. I put the older two in front of the TV while I hopped in the shower. Closed the doors, made sure the gates were up, Griffin was asleep. Took a quick shower, quicker because I heard Griffin screaming. Got out and started to feed him. Well, two people from church were supposed to stop by I thought around 11:30. Nope, they showed up at 11 (probably my fault for remembering wrong). Xander opened the door for them, I'm still in the bedroom, not dressed by the way, feeding Griffin. I stop feeding him, throw on some clothes and come out. My hair is not even combed yet, btw. Well, while I was in the shower, Xander knocked the gate down to my scraproom and poured my brand new quick-dry tacky glue all over Maxton's head, the carpet and my chair. The glue was already cemented in Maxton's hair. I visit with the women for a while. Then I put the boys in the tub, meanwhile, Griffin starts screaming again. I call my mom to see if she can come help me (how am I supposed to save the carpet, bathe the boys and feed Griff all at the same time) but she's not home. Pull the boys out of the tub against their wills. All three are now screaming at the top of their lungs. Put the boys naked in front of the TV, calm Griff down a little, then start working on the glue mess. I really don't think it's coming out of the carpet. . .

Some cool news

Well, Memory Makers called me yesterday, but somehow couldn't get ahold of me. So, they sent me an email asking to call them about my masters entry layout, "Me in a Nutshell." Well, I called back this morning and they want it for the April 2006 issue. WOW! I've never been in one of their regular issues. But, it gets better. She also asked for some step-by-step artwork so they can show the readers how to do the flowers I made. So not only do I get a goodie box for being published, but they are also going to pay me a little! I do freelance work for Scrapbook Trends often, but it's so neat to have another magazine want me too. I think that layout is one of the best I've ever done and it's for sure one of my favorites. It took me 2 hours at a crop to ink and glue down all the journaling and that was just one part of the layout.

I'm off to exercise

I'm going over to my mom's house this morning to get on her treadmill. I'm really not excited about it, but I have 20 pounds I really want to lose, so there ya go.

Oh, and some new Griffin photos. This was a "lap" photo shoot, in otherwords, he looked cute on my lap so I picked up the camera. That's why they are so close up.

Another quick post to show off my latest layout. I think I really like this one--hurray! And it wasn't even an assignment, I just felt like scrapbooking. Shocking, huh?

New Layout

Melissa came over today and we did some scrapbooking. I did this layout of Griffin, his very first (well, he is on one that will go in our family book and that's being published in Scrapbook Trend's Fast and Fabulous book). I decided to do his book in 8.5x11, which will be a fun change. Anyways, here's a link to the layout.

Halloween

Ug, what a Halloween we had. First off, Xander and Maxton had doctor's appointments yesterday morning. Not such a good idea on Halloween, but when David made the appointment neither he or I thought about it. The poor little guys were so sad to get their shots and then cranky the rest of the day. I had to laugh at Xander a little. I had Maxton get his "pokies" first, which probably wasn't too smart. By the end of Maxton shots, Xander was crying and saying, "No pokies. Ouch. No pokies!" Poor little thing. I felt so bad for him that we had to do his shots anyway.

Well, after the doctor's, we rushed home to make pumpkin strudel for a work party of David's. He really wanted to bring it hot, which would have been fine except that it added greatly to my stress! I had to grab cinnamon from my mom's house, because we were all out. Okay, got the cinnamon, ran home, stuck Max in bed, added the cinnamon to the batter and cooked it up. While it was cooking, I made cards for Paper Trends. Three cards down (two more left to still do) and pumpkin strudel cooked. I woke up Max, stuck the boys in their Halloween costumes, with Xander screaming the whole time that he didn't want his on. Well, I knew once we were on his way, he'd be okay with it. So, we went to David's work party, since I had to deliver the strudel anyway, and we had a little lunch there. Then I dropped the boys off at Grandma's so I could finish the last two cards.

Then I realize that David is late and I'm not going to make it to class on time. He was going to pick up the boys at Grandma's, so he didn't realize that I had Griffin and that he still needed to leave early. So, at this point, my throat is starting to hurt, and I'm exhausted, and I think, "It's Halloween, forget class." So, David and I head over to Grandma's to pick up Xander and Maxton. I grab the stuff I need for Tammy, and we run out the door. Once at Grandma's, we paint Maxton's face; Xander refused to have his painted. We decide to trick-or-treat at the mall.

We're on our way. We stop by Scrapbook Trends. Xander falls asleep on the way, so we run in with Maxton and Griffin, just to say hi since they happen to be having the company party right then. I give Tammy my layouts and my cards. Then we go to Costco, since we were nearly out of diapers. David just runs in, since Xander is still asleep. I change and feed Griffin, Maxton asks to get out the whole time David is gone. We go to the mall, meet Grandma, Melissa, Hyrum and Maddy. It was so fun to walk around, and Xander finally woke up and got into the spirit of it all.

I was so tired though. I'm glad it's all over, although I was hoping for a less stressful and fun Halloween. I felt sorry for the boys too, because they didn't really enjoy it as much as they would have. And today I'm sick sick sick. I was running a fever last night, and now my throat is killing me.

Here's some photos of the little cuties.
