Bald Max

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

He's got the biggest head. I'm sort of used to seeing him without hair now. It's pretty cute. The first day, we went to the store and he was sort of self-conscious about it--he wouldn't take off his hat!!

It's never boring at our house! Haircuts by Xander!

Yep, it only takes about to seconds to go from hair to no hair. We're going to have to shave Maxton bald.

I'm finally over Griffin being a boy

I know, took me long enough, huh? But last night I had a dream that I went back and gave birth again and it was a girl, and I didn't have a Griffin. Made me so sad. I just adore my little guy. I'm happy I had the dream though, because I was still feeling a little guilty about wanting a girl so badly, but now I don't care, and that's nice. I knew that I'd feel this way eventually, but to actually get there, yay!

A comparison

I was looking all over for this photo of me at three months, because I can't believe how much Griffin looks like me, especially when he smiles. He's such a cutie!

Everything went great

So, I waited all day yesterday and no call back from the doctor. I was pretty upset, because I had no idea what was happening or what even needed to happen. Well, David called this morning. The nurse said she'd have the doctor call me back. An hour and a half later, I got a call. We're going into the hospital in about an hour to have the surgery done. It sounds pretty simple. They do a little incision in the belly button, use a camera to find it and then pull it out. I'm so glad we didn't have to wait until Monday.

Everything went well with the surgery. I've never been put out before and it was sort of a strange experience. The worst part of everything was getting the IV put in, but that wasn't too bad. I went into the OR around 1:00, the procedure took about 20 minutes and we left the hospital at around 5:00. I'm doing great, not in any pain. I'm just a little dizzy and I was really hungry, but David ran and got me some Arby's. Yummy. I'll be taking it easy for a few days, but everything went really well.

Going, going, gone

Yep, Max had fun while I was at the hospital. Grandma took him and Xander to Carl's Jr. He was still hungry when we got home, so I made him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Little did I know that he'd end up with his face in it. I looked over from my lunch of soup and garlic bread, and saw his head nodding. At first I thought he was passing out. Nope, just falling asleep!

This is just wackiness!

So, I had an IUD put in a few weeks ago, and felt some pretty hard cramping, etc, but I did a bunch of research on them and knew that was fairly normal. So, we had a follow up visit yesterday, but on Tuesday the pain was getting pretty bad and sometimes sharp. I called and they said to take some IB Profen. Then yesterday I went in and they couldn't find the strings, they sent me today to the hospital for an ultrasound to check on it. The ultrasound technician couldn't find it, so they sent me to have an abdominal CT. Well, the nurse from my OB/GYN's office just called, and apparently it punctured through the uterus and is somewhere in my abdominal cavity. The nurse said the exact name of the place it's in, but I can't remember what it's called. This complication is pretty rare, only 1 in 1000, and usually happens during insertion, but that didn't happen in my case. I'm scheduled to see my doctor on Monday. Not sure of everything that is going to happen, the doctor is supposed to call me back sometime today. I feel fine; I'm in a little pain but not too bad, but I find it strange that they are leaving it until Monday.

When it rains, it pours, right?

On the upside, Max is having a great birthday. Photos to come.

Seeing Santa

Last Thursday we went to a Christmas party for my dad's side of the family. Santa made a special apperance. I love the way Griffin looks suspicious of Santa! And Max would only sit on his lap once he realized he had candy.

Coordination

Poor guy wants to be so independent. He's always been that way, but since he turned 3 it's gotten worse. I try to let him do what he wants, but sometimes it's not possible. Today we went for a follow-up appointment for Griffin and he kept telling me he wanted to do up his seat belt by himself. He's not strong enough to do it. But I let him try, then I helped him out a little. He started crying, "Don't help me. I want to do it by myself." So I told him, "I'm sorry, buddy, but you need more coordination to do it by yourself." As I'm driving off, I hear him in the back seat crying, "I want more coordination. I want more coordination." Oh my gosh, I was laughing all the way home! I was impressed he could even say "coordination"!

We just got home from the hospital

I don't think there is anything worse than having sick kids. I hate seeing them suffer. We've all had colds and runny noses and I noticed that Griffin was getting a little wheezy last Wednesday. We had his two month well check up on Friday, so I put off going to the doctor. Friday morning, I bundled up all the boys, put them in the car and went to the doctor's. Come to find out, they suspected Griffin had RSV. They monitored his breathing and oxygen levels and talked about admitting him to the hospital, but the doctor decided we'd wait and see how he was doing Saturday morning. I had class on Saturday morning, so David took him in. He was still doing okay with his oxygen, but his breathing was even more wheezy and they wanted to make sure he didn't get exhausted from breathing so hard, so they admitted him to the hospital. Poor David was there for four hours before I could get there, with all three boys. I had projects due in both my classes and I had to stay at school. I started checking in with David every so often. Griffin was getting so hungry, and he's very sensitive to any sort of milk product: I've totally given up cheese, milk and dairy of any kind. David kept telling the nurses that he was getting hungry and needed to eat. Griffin started getting mad and of course, with all the crying and distress, his oxygen levels plummeted. Finally they got him some soy based formula and he settled down.

Because Melissa is taking the same class as I am, she gave me a ride to school so that David could have the car. I needed to stay later than her though, and Jay came a picked her up. David couldn't leave the hospital because he was feeding Griffin and making sure he was okay, so I called my parents' house. Luckily, I caught my dad at home (my mom was off at a seminar all day) and he came to pick me up and take me to the hospital. I got anxious waiting for him and started walking. It felt so good to get moving; I was worried and pretty sad that I wasn't there with Griffin. I finally got to the hospital just after 3:00. David took the boys home and my dad was nice enough to bring me some scrapbooking stuff so I'd have something to do. Griffin was doing pretty well, they had him on constant oxygen though. The poor little guy had wires everywhere. Thankfully through this whole thing he's been eating just fine. It was actually kind of funny, because they weighed him at the doctor's office on Friday and he was 12 lbs 5 oz. On Saturday at the hospital he was 12 lbs 8 oz. On Sunday morning he was 12 lbs 14 oz. He didn't have to have an IV for which I was really grateful.

David came on Sunday with Xander and Maxton so I could see them. He gave Griffin a blessing and from then on, he started to improve rapidly. They took him off the oxygen late Sunday afternoon. They told us our stay would be anywhere from 3-5 days, and so we started looking for sitters for the boys while David was at work. The ward was so nice and we had 7 people volunteer to watch them. We couldn't get a hold of my mom to see if she'd be able to watch them at all. Melissa was going to take them Monday, which was so nice of her. We ended up not needing anyone else, because they released Griffin this morning. We still need to watch him closely and we have an appointment on Wednesday, but I'm happy that he's home and that I can be with all my boys. It was really nice to get a long break though, with meals coming without any effort on my part. I also got two scrapbook pages done and a card, but I hate sleeping in the hospital. I'm so grateful that although it was serious, it wasn't life-threatening. Griffin is such a touch little guy and he was so happy, even though he was horribly sick.

Here's a photo of my little trooper. The things on his cheeks are to help keep the oxygen thingy in place, but they had already removed it when I took this photo.

What? When did he grow up?

I took some photos of Xander playing out in the snow and realized, he's grown up! It makes me kind of sad, but I love this stage. He gives me hugs all the time and tells me how much he loves me and he's always saying such cute and funny things. I can't believe he's 3 already. I know that's not very old, but it still feels like time has gone so quickly. I swear my heart is going to break when he goes to Kindergarten. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Wow, I haven't updated in a while

I'm so busy with the end of school and Christmas that I haven't really updated much at all. I had a great birthday--everyone was so nice to me. I got a few really fun e-cards from family and the most adorable handmade card from my SIL Sandee. David totally spoiled me on presents too. We're on a budget for Christmas, so if there was something he wanted to get me but didn't have enough in the Christmas budget, he gave it to me for my birthday! Silly, sweet man. I got a bunch of new clothes and a lens I've been coveting for a long time. I also went out and bought some work light for studio lighting. So, I've been playing around with them. My uncle asked if I'd do a photo shoot for his Christmas cards, so I did that too. I'm not perfect at it yet, but it's so much better than just natural light, especially in winter.

Anyway, here are so photo from my recent shoots. Melissa actually took the ones of Xander and Maxton, but I cropped and edited, as they are out takes from our Christmas card photo shoot.
