Only Three Months Late

I finally took some pictures of my kids in last year's Halloween costumes. I know, I know, I'm three months late. Fall is just crazy for us and I didn't ever take the time to get some portraits. I still need to take some of Aubrey, but she was sleeping. I'll catch her when she wakes up, then maybe post again.

I just couldn't resist sharing. They are so dang cute!

She's a-growin'.

My goodness, how time flies. Aubriana is nearly 8 months old. She got her first tooth recently and the second one is just about ready to break through as well. She is also astonishly flexible. When the doctor checked her hips at her 6 month appointment, he commented that she is limber. David says that he knows that lots of babies chew on their toes, but she is the only one he knows of that does it without bending her legs. She will sit on our laps and do the splits and not even think twice about it.
David and I have been competing to see if she would say Mama or Dada first. Xander's first word was ball, followed by Dada, followed at last by Mama. Maxton also said Dada before Mama. Finally, Griffin said Mama first. So, we would sit with Aubriana and say, "Say mamamama," or "Say dadadada." David won. The other day she started saying "dadada." It's so cute! She will say it when she's wants someone to come to her. She also will say it if she wants to get my attention as well, so I don't feel too bad about it. Plus, they say that Dada is easier to say.

She is also starting to sit up for short periods. She is at my absolute favorite age. She is just a doll and so sweet.

Some more jewelry

I've been so busy lately. Things have just been crazy around here. However, I have had the chance to make a few more jewelry pieces, as that is what I like to do while David and I watch movies occasionally at night to unwind. And we end up staying up way too late too. :P

I've also made five or six bracelets for Aubrey, all of which are too big. She has such tiny wrists and small hands that if you are off by just one bead, it's too big and falls off--I have one that is too small. I guess I'm stockpiling for when she grows a little bit. Speaking of her, she is getting so big and cute and is starting to sit on her own, which I'm looking forward to. Then maybe she will get some hair on the back of her head at last.

I'm going to be TICKED.

So, David and I have a lot of trouble coming up with names. We hardly ever agree. I say that it can't be in the top 100 for the last year. It has to be definitely masculine or feminine. I don't like girl's names that end in -y or -ie except in very special cases. It has to have a cool meaning. It has to go well with the middle name we've picked out--we hardly ever have a hard time picking a middle name. :) It has to have a few cool nick names if at all possible (Xander's the only one who doesn't really). It has to be kind of trendy without being extremely popular; unusual without being laughable; no famous people of dubious character can share the name. If there is a standard or common spelling, it will have that spelling. I search the web, trying to make sure that all the requirements are met.

So, check out this list:
Most Popular Baby Names

Notice, boy name 59. Girl name 85 and 95.

I was kinda upset to learn that Xander was the 98th name for 2002, but I dealt with it. However, I'm going to really loose it if Abrianna gets popular. It was not even in the top 1000 (yes, that's the top ONE THOUSAND) for 2006. Not to mention, we went with the more phonetic spelling Aubriana and I didn't mind because there was no way it was going to get popular. :P

Luckily, this is not the official Social Security data. It is only names that have been favorited on the babynames.com site. So, I'm not going to wig out yet. But people better back off my of my names. I worked dang hard to figure them out.

As a side note, did you notice boy name 95? Pretty cool to see Miles and Abrianna side by side. So, it's not all bad. ;) Oh, and I guess that means that I have good taste. Small comforts.
