Jay Turned 30

Last week was Jay's 30th birthday (he's married to my sister Melissa). She planned a huge surprise party for him and told enough lies to earn her a spot in Hades someday. :) I, on the other hand, slaved for two days to make a cake worthy of his Harley Davidson obsession. The party was great and the cake tasted great. It was worth the time I spent on it just to have the pictures. We are thinking of going down to the Harley Davidson shop with the pictures and seeing if they'll let us leave a flier for cake orders. Not sure I would even want to do that. We'll see. Anyway, below is the birthday boy and my niece, Maddy and below that is my cake.

He gets opposites. . .

This morning, I heard Maxton and Griffin arguing. . .

Maxton: Griffin, be quiet!
Griffin: No, be loud.
Maxton: BE QUIET. (getting madder now)
Griffin: BE LOUD. (He says it cheerfully and with enthusiasm)

LOL!

A bunch of pictures

Sorry it's been so long since I updated. Our internet went down for a while and in the middle, David and I went on a trip to Las Vegas, without the kids (thanks again, Mom and Melissa). David had a conference he had to go to, so his work paid for our gas to drive down, the hotel and David's food, so it was a opportunity we couldn't pass up. Mostly we walked around and ate a lot. We went to see Leatherheads, which was so good, very cute movie and the theater was HUGE and completely empty except for us. The next night, we went to Spamalot, basically the Broadway musical version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That was the highlight of the trip! It was so hilarious. The songs were great and I'm going to download the soundtrack as soon as I get a chance. While David was at the conference, I staying in the room, relaxing, making jewelry and scrapbooking while watching reruns of America's Next Top Model.

We are doing much better, plus some cake pictures!

I took Aubriana yesterday to the doctor to check on her ears, to make sure the infections had cleared up and they have! Yay! I was pretty sure they had, since she's started sleeping through the night most of the time.

She is 10 months now. She is so sweet. She's very observant and watches everything closely. She's started taking turns trying to say everyone's names. She even said her own name (Nana) once and was very proud of herself. She waves hi, with such a girl, princess wave--she only uses her hand and wrist and will say hi too. I weaned to strait to a cup and she loves her cup. I'm feeling a bit strange about finishing with breast feeding. On one hand, I loathe it. On the other hand, I miss it a bit and feel sad that that chapter in my life is probably over. Although that thought alternates from making me sad to making me want to jump up and down with joy.

My nephew, Hyrum, had his 5th birthday on Saturday. I can't believe how old he is getting! He will be heading off to Kindergarten this fall with Xander (stayed tuned for a teary future post). We had his party yesterday. I made him a robot cake, and I have to say it turned out so cute! Even cuter than I was hoping and it was one of the shorter cakes to make. Although we picked a vanilla cake and not one of them came out cleanly from the pan. At one point, knowing my gift for drama, I collapsed on the floor in agony because the fourth cake didn't come out of the pan cleanly! :P I just pieced them together with frosting, but that was really annoying.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of our little robot, M29 (named for Hyrum's birthday). My dad called him Robby for short. ;)
