Lagoon!

This past Saturday, we got to go to Lagoon, our local amusement park. It was the kids' first time at an amusement park, and they were like little wind-up monkeys, they were so excited. It was Wencor's company party, so we got deeply discounted tickets. Whawhoo! Gotta love a discount. We also talked Melissa and Jay and their family and my parents into coming and as an extra shocker, my little brother Tyler decided to come too. We were only missing my bro, Jake, which was too bad, but we had fun without him anyway. ;)

It was a weird day, weather wise. It was too cold for the water park, which made all our preparation for it useless. It was almost too cold and we were all wearing jackets on and off all day. I also packed swimsuits and pants. I was none too sure what the weather was going to do. Luckily, it only sprinkled in the morning, then it cleared up into a beautiful, semi clouded day. Can you tell I'm ready for some summer weather? I'm getting jipped out of my favorite season.

We did a bunch of kiddie rides first, which the boys loved. You should have seen Griffin's face on the kiddie roller coaster--he was sitting in the front and he had his mouth half opened with the corners turned down. He never varied from that face. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it, because I was on Aubrey duty. I took this picture of her while they were riding. She is such a hoot. Her personality is really starting to show--she's a goof ball, drama queen, girly girl sweetie, in a nut shell. She was an angel the whole day, despite refusing to nap. Except finally passing out for about 30 minutes at dinner time. She was not happy that she missed dinner and Cheez-Its didn't make it up to her, but still, that was mostly just protesting, not fussing.

Some pictures of the kids on the kiddie rides:I don't know why I don't have any close ups of Maxton on these rides. I should mention that I didn't feel like lugging and worrying about my SLR, so these are from our little Casio point and shoot. It didn't do as a bad of a job as I thought when I was taking these. I may have started to have some feelings for the cute little guy. I love that he can fit in my pocket. And he has zoom, something that my SLR doesn't have right now--since I only have a fixed lens. A very nice fixed lens, but still, it doesn't zoom.

David and I only did a few adult rides, because my back is still hurting from my run in with my roller blades. I have a chiropractic appointment tomorrow. David is motivated to get me healthy, so he checked out the insurance and made me an appointment today--because he wants to go back to Lagoon on a date. Which sounds great to me. We had so much fun on Colossus. It may have been the only time I've been on a roller coaster without muy muy angst beforehand. I didn't want David to think I was a wuss. He will tell you otherwise, but he doesn't know what I used to go through to get myself psyched up. I did draw the line at sitting in the front car, which we would have been if I didn't have the quick wit to trade with some teenage girls. I screamed a lot. I'm one of those people who you can hear echoing off the mountain from across the park. I can wake the dead. And it wasn't even full capacity. I was trying to be brave, like I said.

We had dinner that was catered by Lagoon through David's work. The kids loved the popsicles. I got quite a few pictures of them eating them.
Near the end of the day, we found out that Xander and Maxton were tall enough to ride the Bat. It's one of those that you hang under the track. It's pretty small and pretty slow, but Xander and Maxton thought they were hot stuff riding it. Maxton was particularly disappointed that he couldn't ride the huge roller coasters. He was game to go upside down and the whole bit. I'm surprised that he's so brave! They also got talked into the pirate ship ride. I hate those things, so I stayed behind with Aubrey and Griffin. Here's a picture of Grandma and David on the ship. Those little people next to them are Maxton and Xander. David said Xander seemed like he was about to puke. He seemed excited to me when he got off though. This is Griffin as he watches the others on the ship. You can see that paranoid me wrote our cell phone number on his hand. I also got all the other kids too, and they were refreshed several times throughout the day. They had all sort of stuff stamped on their hands. We didn't lose a kid. Well, Hyrum got lost for about 30 seconds, but he was found quickly. I also bought the kids matching bright green shirts. I wanted to be able to do a count quickly. That was part of the reason I was so annoyed that they had to wear jackets half the day. Here's one last photo of Aubriana and her daddy at the end of the day. We had so much fun. I didn't think I had over-done it, but I was pretty wasted Sunday and into Monday. Yesterday I ended up with a horrible migraine, complete with puking. Yuck. I'm feeling much better today. I just haven't had the best health the past little while, which is so weird for me. Hopefully, I'll be able to find the right combinations so I can be myself again.

  1. What a sweet picture of your husband and little girl. I relocated to SLC from Oregon last fall. I teach school, and when I asked where would you most like to go for vacation, a lot of kids said "Lagoon". I thought they meant like a deserted island and wondered how they knew a vocab word like "lagoon". Then my DH and I were driving to Ogden and I started shouting because I saw "Lagoon" along the way and realized this is what the kids were talking about. Looks like fun if you like rides, but wow, some of those rollercoasters look wicked!

  3. I love that picture of Aubriana and David, that is so sweet. Brilliant idea, writing your number on their hands. I'm stowing that one away. I hope you get back to feeling normal soon!
