I think I might have missed the owl trend craze by a little bit. I've heard that roosters are the new owl (although that is almost a year old). I think that is crazy talk. I love owls. Chickens scare me. Hopefully, we won't move onto ducks/geese from here. If we do, I will be the trendiest person ever, because my thrift store is full of ceramic ducks of all shapes and sizes, and I can totally do that for nearly nothing.

Anyway, considering I still like owls, I ignored the trend and designed this kit. I'm cool challenged, so I will continue to like owls.

This layout is my nephew, Miles, with two of my little guys. Miles is a hoot. He's freakin' hilarious, even though he doesn't really talk much and when he does, they are all one syllables and sound exactly the same. Only my sister has the code cracking skills necessary to understand him. Doesn't matter. He's got a glint in his eye that always makes me grin right back. It's like I don't even have a choice.

Another Cake Post

Yep, tons of fall birthdays in our family. Melissa asked me to do a pumpkin cake for Miles' first birthday and she wanted a small one for his smash cake, but it wouldn't be right to do only two, so I made a medium one as well. The cake inside is lemon with lemon frosting. Everything is marshmallow fondant, except the words, which are piped.

I'm so happy with the way it turned out and it is actually one of my faster cakes. I think I spent maybe 6 hours on it. I can't wait for him to dig into it tomorrow at his party!

He is just THE SWEETEST THING! He's so tiny compared to Aubriana and has the softest skin. He's just a doll and I had a blast shooting him.

Welcome Baby Miles!

I got to go to the hospital this evening and be there for the birth of my little nephew, Miles. I am already in love with him. He is just soooo sweet! He's a total blondy, I've never seen a newborn with such blonde hair. He even has blonde eyebrows. He's also very fair skinned.

I was telling Melissa that I thought he would weigh 7 lbs 11 oz just a few hours before he was born and I was right on the money! Not sure how long he is, I left before they measured him. He also has a dimple in his chin, like Melissa and my mom. He arrived at 7:47 pm.

Poor Melissa had kind of a hard time. The epidural didn't take all the way and she was in quite a bit of pain. Luckily, she didn't have to push much, only 6 minutes.

Anyway, he's just too cute for words. Here's a pic to prove it!
